Limited custom work

Custom Work

Made within the language of ASKR .

We accept a small number of custom requests for collectors, interiors, gifts, and special objects. Each piece begins inside our existing world: original direction, carved black ceramic surfaces, food-safe glaze where appropriate, and a kiln-fired finish.

What we accept

Three ways to begin a custom piece.

01

Personal Object

A single piece for a collector, a gift, a memory, or a personal symbol. Best for names, dates, quiet motifs, and objects with emotional weight.

02

Interior Piece

Display work for homes, hospitality spaces, restaurants, studios, and styled interiors. Best for walls, shelves, entry areas, and collected rooms.

03

Small Batch Work

A limited set of related pieces for gifting, table settings, brand moments, or project-based use. Best when the direction can stay consistent across the set.

Creative scope

Custom does not mean unlimited.

Each accepted request stays close to ASKR Wares' own visual world. This keeps the final object feeling collected, intentional, and true to the studio instead of becoming a factory copy.

We can customize

  • FormPlates, vessels, tiles, wall pieces, framed ceramic objects, or small related sets.
  • SurfaceCarved lines, symbolic motifs, texture direction, names, dates, and simple personal marks.
  • FinishDark clay body, food-safe glaze where appropriate, matte depth, or a subtle kiln-fired sheen.
  • UseDecorative display, collected interiors, gifting, or food use when the object form allows it.

We do not make

We do not copy another artist's work, licensed characters, mass-production samples, or designs that sit outside the ASKR Wares language.

Da Zhuang reviews each request before acceptance, so the piece can carry your intention while still belonging to the studio's archive.

How it works

A clear path from idea to fired object.

01

Send Your Request

Tell us what you want to make, how it will be used, the approximate size, quantity, timeline, and any visual direction you have in mind.

02

Creative Review

Da Zhuang reviews whether the request fits the ASKR Wares language, material limits, production schedule, and intended use.

03

Sketch & Quote

If the direction is suitable, we confirm the scope, provide a simple concept direction, and quote the piece before work begins.

04

Making & Firing

The piece is shaped, carved, glazed where appropriate, kiln-fired, reviewed, packed carefully, and prepared for shipment.

Ceramic work carries natural variation through hand carving, glaze, and fire. Small differences in surface, tone, and finish are part of the final object.

Pricing & timeline

Quoted after the request is reviewed.

Custom pricing depends on size, carving complexity, quantity, finishing requirements, packing needs, and timeline. We quote individually so the work can stay careful instead of rushed.

Typical factors
  • Object size and ceramic form
  • Surface carving complexity
  • Food-safe glaze or display-only finish
  • Single piece or small batch quantity
  • International packing and shipping needs
Timing
  • Most accepted requests need several weeks.
  • Rush work is limited and may not be possible.
  • Kiln firing can introduce natural schedule variation.
  • We confirm the expected timeline before payment.

A note before we begin

A custom piece is a conversation.

It is not a factory order, and it is not meant to erase the hand of the studio. The strongest custom pieces usually begin with a clear feeling, a room, a memory, a symbol, or a purpose.

From there, Da Zhuang brings the request back into ASKR Wares' own language: dark ceramic, carved surface, glaze, fire, and the quiet tension of an object that feels discovered.

If that way of working feels right to you, we would be glad to hear what you are imagining.
